Apologies to the hordes of fans who have been missing the updates...no, we've not been deported, just busy/lazy depending on your definition.
Plenty much has happened since the last update so only the briefest of commentaries can appear here. I'm sure we will be more than happy to bore you for hours on end upon our miserable return,
The jewelry tour was indeed essentially a sales pitch, so not great although it did get us out of the boat for a while. Then straight to bed because we were to visit Abu Simbel the day after. You get there by travelling in a coach convoy which sets off in the ridiculous morning. So at 4am we were onboard with pillows etc. for a sleepy trip through the Sahara desert. Sleep was stopped however upon the rising of the sun. To see it peek out over the dry dry desert sand dunes was 10 x spectacular. Seeing a fleet (?) of camels trekking from countries distant was also rather special. Then we arrived at the 2 great temples of Abu Simbel - or at least their current location as they have rather amazingly been moved since times immemorial and put near a man-made lake. Nontheless, the majesty of ye olde pharohs remains supreme, although the special design feature where the inner sanctum only gets sunlight on the king's birthday is now one day out. Oops.
Anyway, having consumed the room service offerings, tis bedtime again here, gotta be up silly early again tomorrow so sorry there is no time for any real info on the temple or further gossip here just now.

Sounds amazing
Hello Mr Poorhouse,
Sounds like you are having an amazing time - hope you've taken lots of photos! the view across the desert sounds spectacular!
Missing you like mad here! I've had a bit of excitement whilst you've been away - had to do CPR on real-life casualty at Arena... but this is not the forum to tell you the details... you'll have to wait till you're back!
Send my love to Katty, but save plenty for you too. Please bring me back a tacky souveneir!
We're off on holiday tomorrow!
Lx
photos aplenty
Oh, we have plenty of photos, don't you worry. I fear the desert photo may not even come close to doing it justice, there are some things that you just have to be there for (or not own a relatively cheap digital camera :-) ). The time was indeed amazing.
I look forward to hearing all your gossip upon your return. Casualty sounds a little like extreme excitement / fear! Get emailing/blogging/whatever so we know what you're up to!
I am afraid I didn't really buy anything physical and enduring much over there, and I am currently writing from the UK so it's a bit late soz. I realise that makes me a bad person but you know how I can only carry light things. You can wear my fez hat every now and then if that helps make up for it.
Have a good holiday, am so jealous, am not impressed by the UK and have only been in it 1 day! Come round when you get back and we can give fascinating photo tours etc. of our respective times away.
