Preparation is key

Well done gentle reader, you have found the location of the formative stages of the grand Egypt blog. As we traverse around the great country of ancient wonders hopefully we will produce some sort of updates here for you to read avidly.

Quick usage guide for novices: to see updates, either visit the main Adam-blog address every so often. Alternatively if you sign up to an account (link on bottom of right sidebar), and everything is in good working order, you can subscribe by email for updates. After logging in you should see a "subscribe blog" link on this message to do this. Subscribe post just gives you email updates of any comments, which is probably the wrong option. And we want comments please! Leave them below each post. Alternatively if you are properly geek-enabled, you may subscribe to the site as a whole via RSS on the orangey RSS symbol below-right.

More interestingly, am about to set off to London for stage one of the trip. As my partner in crime is Kat, of course we have got megadeals. The trip was via indecisive travellers-friend lastminute.com, and we used Quidco to reclaim about £60 if memory serves. Insurance was web-cheap (tip: most often you only need European insurance for Egypt, I have no idea why, but it's much cheaper than full international) reclaiming a mega £3.25. I am also travelling with a young person's (don't laugh, I am young kind-of) railcard for the train, along with £20 worth of rail vouchers as a result of complaining repeatedly about the terrible service that the UK railways tend to exert on every trip. We also have half-price Gatwick Express tickets, courtesy of some free world-points.

Packing has been a (short-lived) nightmare but I kind of assume that as people live their whole lives in Egypt, they must have everything there one needs so let's not worry about it.

Boringness over, it's time for adventure! Waypoint #1: Chez Kat, London. Here we come!
