Readers! Please put those piles of cash to good use and go donate to Laura for her sponsored slim.
Laura, an occasional contributor to the Poorhouse, has set an ambitious target for weight-loss, so to keep her inspired to keep on track, go to the gym and eat lettuce please go give her another reason to do so. Money can be donated via the highly reputable justgiving website and you can be sure that your contribution will go to Médecins Sans Frontières. MSF is a humanitarian aid organisation that goes wherever and whenever needed to provide emergency medical assistance throughout the globe. They are just gearing up to go into Lebanon so why not send them a few pounds to help them on their way?
Any readers who don't know who Laura is can be assured that she is most righteous and very much deserves your contribution. Get it done. As a bonus - as if you needed more - her website includes a rather funny picture.
If you have any problems with the site or would rather pledge your donation offline just contact us and something can easily be arranged.

Its going well: both fundraising and weight loss.

I've lost 3 pounds in the first week, which is 1/8th of the way there already - hurrah!
The total raised so far (online and offline donations/pledges) is £468, which in one week is fantastic! Thank you so much to everyone who has sponsored me, it is helping to motivate me, and I'm sure is doing greater good elsewhere.

Keep at it!
Thankyou for the slimming-for-charity update. Congratulations on progress, both weighty and financial.
Readers: if you haven't already, go sponsor her to keep her on track. A reconnaissance mission carried out by a Poorhouse representative reveals that our subject, Laura, is indeed keeping to the straight and narrow, despite much pain, anguish, unwellness and denial of anything edible.
The Poorhouse was shocked and amazed to find the presence of two types of the packaging-slightly-disguised-as-food known as Ryvita casually laying around the room as "snacks". There is a very strong likelihood of course that they tasted identical - unless the cardboard box factory had a Cadbury's style contamination incident between making them.
Thank you
Dear Mr Poorhouse and Poorhouse readers,
Thank you for your support. I am coping with the starvation and despite what Poorhouse says, I am not suffering too badly. I have however developed a taste for Ryvita - they are indeed nutritious and delicious :-\ HELP!
