No, the Poorhouse is neither dead or so poor he can't pay the hosting bill. So many sorries for lack of updates, I know I shouldn't take those micropennies of google ad income for granted. However the situation (extreme busyness, lack of internet freedom) is in no danger of resolving itself anytime soon.
So, in the mean time, baffle yourself with this apparent fact.
If you divide the length of a river from source to mouth across a gently sloping plane by its direct length "as the crow flies", you'll find pi.
To be honest, it doesn't sound greatly likely or even really checkable for those of us with only mortal powers, but it's a nice one to win friends and impress people with. The source is reasonably reliable as far as the media goes (the BBC - for those of you who are not idiots obsessed with the idea that the BBC is the liberal intelligentsia's attempt to ruin the planet by indoctrinating you lovely rightwing fascists).
The article also brings to our attention Kate Bush's song "Pi". Could this be the only song in the world to feature 3 figures worth of pi's digits in it? A metaphorical prize for anyone who can beat it.

There must be an easier way than walking the whole length of a river and flying like crow.
